The Nigerian Corrrectional Service, Anambra State  Command, has freed 54 inmates.
Their freedom followed the announcement by the state governor, Willie Obiano, on Saturday of their pardon in exercise of his constitutional powers of prerogative of mercy.

The beneficiaries were selected from Onitsha, Awka, Aguata and Nnewi custodies.

Discharging the inmates on Tuesday, the Controller of the Anambra State command of the NCS,  Emmanuel Nwakeze, advised  them to shun acts that would lead them back into prison custody.
