The Anambra Government on Tuesday took delivery of additional food items donated by companies for distribution to residents of the state.

The companies also provided toll-free telephone lines.

The latest donation was from Band Cereals Ltd., a food processing company, which donated 150 cartons of soya oil, 250 cartons of cornflakes and 500 crates of eggs to the government.

The donations were received by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu.

Making the donation, Mr Brown Eno, the Plant Manager of the Onitsha Plant of the company, said the gesture was to complement the efforts of the State Government to help people during the current lockdown.

Eno said the company envisaged that vulnerable people in the state would get the food items so that they would not suffer hunger or malnutrition.

He said the company was impressed with what the State Government was doing and decided to assist.

“We came here to support the government so that they can get more items to distribute to the vulnerable.

The government also received toll-free telephones from Airtel, a leading telecommunications company.

Making the presentation, Mr Amiandamen Igibah, the Onitsha Area Sales Manager of Airtel, said the toll-free lines would enable Anambra residents in need or in an

emergency to reach government at no cost.

He said the gesture was because people were going through financial difficulties and might not be able to reach out as they would wish to.

Chukwulobelu thanked the companies, assuring that their donations would be distributed to get to the people, who needed the items.

He called on other service providers to take a cue from Airtel and support residents of the state during the lockdown.
