Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop, Diocese of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe, expressed worry that Nigerian leaders and Igbo elders have remained aloof on the issue of marginalization and other issues against Ndigbo in the Nigeria project, but noted that the Church believes in the efficacy of prayers in addressing the numerous challenges facing the nation.

The coordinator of the Prayer Rally, Mr. Chinedu Ike, President of Mother’s Union and Awka Diocesan Bishop’s wife, Martha Ibezim, said the turnout was a clear testimony that God has answered His people, urging Ndi-Anambra to be peaceful in the conduct of the November sixth governorship election in the state.
