Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has explained that electing a God-fearing person will enable the state remain on the path of sustainable development.

Governor Obiano, who stated this at the 2021 Anambra State Anglican Prayer Rally at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, enjoined Ndi-Anambra to use their voting power to enthrone another God-fearing leader for the state on November sixth.

Represented by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, the governor testified that God has been the strong pillar of his administration.

In his remark, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, who described the theme of the Prayer Rally, “Be strong in the Lord” as apt, called on Christians to tackle the various challenges facing the nation by focusing on God.

Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop, Diocese of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe, expressed worry that Nigerian leaders and Igbo elders have remained aloof on the issue of marginalization and other issues against Ndigbo in the Nigeria project, but noted that the Church believes in the efficacy of prayers in addressing the numerous challenges facing the nation.

The coordinator of the Prayer Rally, Mr. Chinedu Ike, President of Mother’s Union and Awka Diocesan Bishop’s wife, Martha Ibezim, said the turnout was a clear testimony that God has answered His people, urging Ndi-Anambra to be peaceful in the conduct of the November sixth governorship election in the state.

Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that the National Chairman of the Evangelical fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC, Nigeria and Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, candidates in the November sixth Anambra governorship election, including Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr. Godwin Mmaduka of Accord Party, parishioners of the nine dioceses that make up the Ecclesiastical province of the Niger, as well as members of other denominations attended the prayer rally aimed at seeking for God’s intervention in the series of problems facing the Nigerian nation, especially insecurity, and for peaceful conduct of next month’s governorship election in Anambra State, return of morality to the society and end to marginalization of all sorts.
